It has been said by others that Dr. Wheeler is a seasoned orator ot the Word of God. His primary emphasis in the pastoral ministry is to bring an in-depth unterstanding of God's love for the believer and that it is His desire to walk in an intimate relationship with them. Man was created to walk intimately with his creator and life will never be all it could be without this relationship. His secondary purpose is to help establish Bible Schools that understand the importance of the study of God's Word in the original languages. The beautiful word picture language of Hebrew is an instrumental tool in proper understanding of the Word of God.

His experience as a Pastor is extensive. Since 1988, he has founded and/or pastured six churches including Grace Fellowship Church where he is currently. The common ingredient in all congregations is that his ministry has been marked by an increase in spiritual growth of those that are a part of his congregation. Dr. Wheeler was born-again at the age of nine at Methodist Youth Camp in Ceta Canyon, Texas. He was baptized in water one year later at the same camp. In 1975, Dr. Wheeler began to respond to God's call to enter the ministry while attending First United Methodist Church in Borger, Texas. He became a licensed minister in 1982 at South Plains Christian Fellowship in Lubbock, Texas. He received his Ph.D. at Californisa Graduate School of Theology in Glendale, California, in 1985, graduating summa cum laude. He became an ordained minister the same year at South Plains Christian Fellowship in Lubbock , Texas. In 1996, he received his Th.D. from Florida Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida. In addition to the pastoral ministry, Dr. Wheeler founded Mended Wings Ministries in 1995. Mended Wings Ministry is dedicated to teaching the Hebraic principles for family life. In 1994 he became professor of Culture and Grammar for "The Timothy Program", a four-year comprehensive Bible College that was established to train third world pastors. In 1998 he joined the staff of Jubilee Christian College as Academic Dean and professor of Hebrew. He is also an Associate Professor of Hebraic Studies for Biblical Life College and Seminary. In 2008 he became president of Jubilee Christian College and began an extension campus in Pocahontas, Arkansas where all degree levels are offered from associate degrees through Ph.D. In April 2009, Dr. Wheeler was inducted into the Oxford Society of Scholars.

Doug has been married to his wife Joyce for twenty years. They have two grown sons and three grandchildren who live in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area. Joyce Wheeler is a Registered Professional Reporter and the co-founder and vice president of Mended Wings Ministries. She is a licensed and ordained minister holding a Bachelor Of Arts Degree in Ministry Management and Music from Florida Theological Seminary. She strongly supports biblical teaching from the Hebraic perspective and understands the Jewish roots of Christianity. Her personal ministry focus is on the Fatherhood of God and His love for His children (the Father to the orphan). She also emphasizes strong biblical husband-wife relationships and healing "broken wings". Joyce completed an album of ten songs written and composed by her entitled "Stronger Arms Than Mine" in 1999, shortly before her retirement from music ministry following vigorous cancer treatment for lymphoma where her strong belief that God holds us beneath His wings of love was forged into a very personal experience of the love of the Father.

Dr. Wheeler is the author of several published and unpublished works. He has written books on "The Influence of the Hebrew Language, History and Culture on the New Testament," "Think on These Things-Hebraic Conceptual Ideas from Philippians 4:8," "Hebrew Bible Study Methodology," "Benching and the Early Christian Meal," "For the Love of God," as well as "God in Pursuit of His People" ,"Salt of the Earth", "The Menorah a Picture of the Christian Life", "The Law of the Fringe", and "The Echad of God".

Dr. Wheeler has also produced hundreds of teaching tapes on important issues as The Healing of the Mind, The Culture of the New Testament, The Three Stages of Maturity, The Unpardonable Sin, The Salt Covenant, The Betrothal of God, The Face to Face Relationship, Hebrew Words in the New Testament and Hebraic Concepts of the Word of God.
